Via Ferrata della Galleria di Morcate is located on the coastal road SP72 near Riva di Gittana. It is a shorter, moderately challenging via ferrata that runs along the cliff face directly above the waters of Lake Como.
Difficulty: B/C (moderately difficult)
Time required: Approximately 1 hour
Elevation gain: Approximately 70–100 meters
Equipment: A complete via ferrata set, climbing harness, helmet, and sturdy shoes are mandatory.
The approach to the via ferrata is quite unique – it begins by climbing directly out of an open rock window from inside the roadside tunnel.
Park on the gravel patch by the SP72 road and walk into the Galleria di Morcate tunnel. In the middle of the tunnel, climb out through the large rock window overlooking the lake, where the via ferrata begins here.
