This beautiful peak Monte San Defendente rises to an altitude of 1,323 meters above sea level directly above the mountain town of Esino Lario, serving as the gateway to the Parco delle Grigne nature reserve. The trip offers one of the most stunning experiences around us. From our apartment, you can reach the summit either by a short drive up above Esino Lario followed by a brief walk, or you can set off on foot directly from the house along historic paths lined with stone walls. The entire hike from the apartment takes roughly 3 hours and is relatively easy.

At the very summit, you will be welcomed by an iconic wooden cross offering a breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire Lake Como. Right before your eyes lies the famous Bellagio peninsula, where the lake splits into its two iconic branches. You will see the shimmering water far below as well as the majestic Alpine peaks.

On a clear day with good visibility, the snow-covered Monte Rosa massif is also perfectly visible on the horizon.
