This famous trail along Lake Como leads from Lecco to Piantedo. This hiking trail copies ancient trade routes that once connected Milan with the regions beyond the Alps.
It is approximately 60 km long and is divided into 5 stages. The trail begins directly in the city of Lecco and passes through Abbadia Lariana, Lierna, Vezio, and Dervio, ending in Piantedo.

STAGE 1 from Lecco to Abbadia Lariana / Time: 2.5 hours / Elevation gain: + 370 meters
STAGE 2 from Abbadia Lariana to Lierna / Time: 3.5 hours / Elevation gain: + 390 meters
STAGE 3 from Lierna to Vezio / Time: 4.5 hours / Elevation gain: + 580 meters
STAGE 4 from Vezio to Dervio / Time: 4 hours / Elevation gain: + 430 meters
STAGE 5 from Dervio to Piantedo / Time: 6 hours / Elevation gain: + 650 meters
STAGE 4: From Regoledo to Dervio
From our apartment, walk down to the small village of Cestaglia, then follow the red trail markers and pass through the Bosco delle Streghe until you reach the beautiful Cappella della Madonna Addolorata above Bellano.
Next, cross the bridge over the Orrido gorge—a must-see attraction—and continue with a gentle climb to the hamlet of Ombriaco. From there, head to the Santuario di Lezzeno.
The path then carries on through Oro all the way to Dervio, where you can take a train back to Varenna.
