Our train station Varenna-Esino serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the entire surrounding area. A comfortable direct connection will take you to Milan in just 1 hour. If you wish to visit historic Bergamo, the journey takes approximately 90 minutes with one easy transfer in Lecco.

Heading north, you will reach Colico in half an hour, or you can continue to the final station in Tirano (90 minutes). There, you can transfer to the famous panoramic Bernina Express, which travels through Alpine passes all the way to St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Traditional paper tickets purchased at the station counter or ticket machine must be validated in the yellow machine on the platform before boarding. If you fail to do so, conductors are highly likely to fine you up to €70. The ideal choice is a digital ticket purchased in the Trenord or Trenitalia app, which you activate directly on your phone and is valid for 6 hours.

BERNINA EXPRESS  The journey to St. Moritz is one of the most beautiful and steepest railway lines in the world, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In just 2.5 hours, this panoramic train will take you from typical Italian Tirano up to the snow-capped peaks of the Swiss Alps. Book your seat online in advance and do not forget to bring a valid ID.

MILAN The journey ends at the monumental main station, Milano Centrale, which is an architectural gem and the city's primary transport hub. From there, you can immediately transfer to the metro (lines M2 and M3) and stand right by the famous Duomo Cathedral in just 10 minutes. Trains run regularly throughout the day, and tickets can be easily purchased via the Trenord or Trenitalia app, or at the station ticket machine.
